more than smell

GARLIC
I always disliked the smell of garlic.. while cooking the whiff spreads through the house n it remains in the mind for a long time.. Coincidently my better half’s family agrees with my views..
But its quite recently that I realized its health benefits ..
My mother always put some in her sabzis n curries but we always got angry with her extravagance with garlic..
Apparently , garlic is good for gas trouble and so amma’s  aloo curry always had lots of ginger garlic paste…

Its helpful in assisting blood pressure and cholesterol. And hence my aunt eats its refined form ie garlic pickle!!
Well here it has another unusual function as well.. its snake repellent.. in place like kerala  where snake are a common sight in houses with gardens and lawns, sprinkling garlic paste or juice drives away snakes… well that’s the belief.. pehaps it’s the smell that forces it to run away!! :p

Ok I’ll also follow my sweet knowledgeable mother ….
And buy clove of garlic or….
a packet of readymade garlic paste.. J

Payasam.. hmm

That semiya boiling in milk.. the  fagrance of cardmom getting grinded to put in.. raisins n cashews fried in ghee … that  aroma fm the kitchen is a common  in indian households
Its cardamom that brings its flavour n brightens our Sunday with sweetness…

Grandma Tips:
To grind the cardamom seeds add some sugar to it . it powders better.
Put the remains in water boiled for drinking ..its good..
